Terms of use

These terms apply to use of the HandPrinter Art website and to bookings made through our enquiry process. By browsing the site or placing a booking request, you agree to the conditions below.

1. Site access and accepted use

This website is run by Astros Marketing (Pty) Ltd for HandPrinter Art. It is provided for adults, students, families, schools and group organisers looking for information about workshops, studio sessions and related printmaking services. The content on this site is general guidance and may change without notice.

You may not use the site in a way that interferes with its security, availability or normal operation. Any attempt to copy site code, scrape pages, harvest data or probe protected areas is not allowed. Use of our contact form must be limited to genuine workshop, booking or service enquiries.

2. Workshop bookings and group arrangements

Bookings for private studio workshops, school pop-up workshops, team building sessions, family print sessions and other print classes are subject to availability and to confirmation of the details you submit. A booking request is only treated as valid once the organiser has checked the session type, venue, group size, dates, materials and any special setup needs.

  • Workshop formats may change where the group size, venue or participant level requires it.
  • Teachers, school staff, venue hosts and group organisers must share accurate access details and timing.
  • Any venue setup service depends on suitable space, table access and safe working conditions for tools, inks and paper.
  • HandPrinter Art may decline a booking request where the session is not suitable for the space or participants.

3. Materials, tools and workshop conduct

Our workshops may include lino and soft-cut blocks, gouges, V-tools, brayers, barens, press printing, registration methods, water-based or oil-based block inks and a range of papers. These materials and methods are used for learning purposes and are handled with care, but carving tools and inks still require attention and responsible conduct.

Participants must follow studio instructions, use equipment properly and respect the pace of the session. Where a teacher, facilitator or print technician gives safety guidance, that guidance forms part of the workshop conditions. Young participants may need direct supervision from an adult responsible for them during the session.

4. Payments, changes and cancellations

Any payment terms for a workshop, class or venue visit will be set out in the booking confirmation or quote. If a project brief changes after confirmation, the revised brief may affect the materials, labour, transport and setup required. Extra requirements can also affect the final scope of the session.

  • Quoted workshop details only apply to the scope that has been agreed.
  • If a group changes in size or location, the organiser must tell us before the session date.
  • Where a booking is cancelled or moved, the organiser remains responsible for any non-recoverable costs already arranged.
  • Any unpaid amount remains due until settled under the agreed terms.

5. Copyright, editions and image use

Original prints created during a workshop remain subject to copyright and moral rights under applicable law. Participants may make personal use of their own finished prints, but they may not reproduce HandPrinter Art teaching material, workshop notes, images or printed layouts without permission. Where an edition is produced in a class, the edition size, numbering and handling method may be explained during the session.

Photographs taken during a workshop must respect the privacy of other participants, staff and venue rules. Any use of images for public promotion, media or commercial purposes needs prior permission from the relevant rights holder.

6. Liability, venue conditions and governing law

HandPrinter Art takes reasonable care in the running of workshops, yet participation in printmaking carries ordinary workshop risks, including contact with tools, wet ink, paper handling and movement around tables or presses. Participants and organisers remain responsible for following safety guidance and for making sure the venue is suitable for the session.

  • We are not responsible for losses caused by inaccurate booking details or venue access failures.
  • We are not liable for damage caused by misuse of tools, inks or equipment during a session.
  • The organiser is responsible for ensuring the venue complies with any local rules, house rules or safety requirements.
  • This agreement is governed by the laws of South Africa.

If any part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies. The newest version on this site replaces earlier wording for later use of the website and future bookings.
